Spotlight: DevOps in Action – The Phoenix Project

Around 10 years ago DevOps was born. Since then, everyone has come to recognize how important it is for development and operations to work together. But, how does an organization go from “let’s do it!” to breaking down silos and having everyone work in harmony with shared goals and values – and, most importantly, positive attitudes?

Option #1: Take your chances! Dictate that development and operations must work together and then stand back and let it happen. (Hint: you’ll most likely witness chaos and major frustration from everyone involved!)

Option #2: Have your team(s) take DevOps training from an accredited training organization. This can be a great option – and is often dependent on the quality of the DevOps course. (For the best, think Pink!) But what happens when everyone gets back to the workplace? Some DevOps courses don’t incorporate the 15 must-have practices and an assessment tool to help you understand how to make real and lasting improvements. (Pssst! Some organizations prefer to use an interactive training workshop to reinforce training their personnel have already taken. Prior to planning training, other organizations might choose to immerse their personnel in an interactive workshop as a prelude to evaluate how effectively their people are implementing a specific service management methodology.
