Make the Impossible Possible – Here Are 5 Ways to Do It!
Do you know what the biggest single regret is that people have at the end of their lives?
In this blog post, we’re introducing an amazing person who has made it his life’s work to share with the world how to live the life you really want – to the fullest!
According to Pink22 keynote speaker Ben Nemtin, “The biggest single regret people have at the end of their life is not regretting the things they did, it’s regretting the things they didn’t do.”
Ben is a New York Times best-selling coauthor of What Do You Want to Do Before You Die?: The Buried Life. He and the co-founders of The Buried Life movement joined together to figure out the 100 things they wanted to do before they died – and how to do them. As they accomplished each goal, they committed to helping a stranger achieve one of their dreams – with amazing results.
Turn Your Dreams into Reality – the Five Steps to Make the Impossible Possible
According to Ben, to realize our dreams we must commit to taking specific actions, and he practices what he preaches. Ben is living his dreams; he has:
- Authored a #1 New York Times Bestselling book
- Starred in an MTV show
- Met and shot hoops with President Obama at the White House
- Been interviewed by Oprah
- Had beers with Prince Harry
- … And has been living his dreams for the past decade!
These experiences have taught Ben that setting and accomplishing personal goals is not a selfish act, but one that creates a positive ripple effect that inspires others to live their best life. In his keynote at Pink22, Ben will share his system of achieving impossible goals and demystifying daunting tasks by turning ‘dreams’ into ‘projects’. He will help you and your work team create inspiration through action and accountability.
Here is Ben’s advice on unburying your dreams and the five steps you can take to help make your dreams come true – both in business and in life:
- Write down your dream/goal. Writing it out makes it tangible and real, and it also breathes life into your dreams. Ben says you are 40% more likely to achieve your goal, simply by writing it down.
- Share your goals. If you don’t share your goals, no one can help you. Fear is the number one thing that stops people from going after their personal goals because they’re afraid of what other people might think, or they’re afraid of failure. There are two types of failure – never going after your goal or trying and failing. Ben emphasizes that what you learn from the latter far outweighs any potential negative impact to your reputation.
- Persist. You fail because you stop trying. Ben says success is equal parts of producing a quality product/service and maintaining a consistency of effort.
- Take moon shots. This means you should shoot for unrealistic goals, because there is less competition out there for the high-aspirational goals because most people pursue mediocre ones. Ben says going for unrealistic goals also attracts the right people who can help you.
- Give. Helping others achieve their goals gives you a satisfaction beyond what you get by helping yourself.
Ben is quoted in Investors Business Daily as saying, “Research finds that the number one regret of 76% of people is ‘not living my ideal self.’ To be really successful at work, you need to be really successful in your personal life. There's just no line between work and life.”
You can choose to NOT be part of the 76% – and, instead, be part of the 24% who, at the end of their lives, have no regrets about the way they lived their life.
