I've only been home for 2 nights and now I'm off to visit our team in Malaysia. First I'll be stopping in Singapore to speak at a local itSMF Chapter meeting.

Just wondering how the markets are impacted in Asia Pacific?

If you mean the world of ITSM, the folks I spoke to at the itSMF Singapore meeting earlier in the week did not seem to be too affected yet - at least compared to what I see happening in North America with regard to IT budget cuts and delayed spending on new projects.

Of course in business generally we can see in the press every day that the economic recession is impacting Asia. The way I read it is that local governments here are learning lessons from what started much earlier (last September) in the USA. For example, the Malaysian government recently introduced a “stimulus package” that was roundly criticized for being too small (less than US$2b). So they’re planning to introduce a new bill this coming week to increase the amount by at least a further US$3b, and maybe as much as an additional US$10b. Job layoffs are also being reported daily in the press.
